Patients that used Ultherapy were assured this was a safe cosmetic procedure, a non-surgical facelift with little to no downtime and minimal side effects. The side effects listed on the Ulthera, Inc. website state a slight redness, tingling, swelling or tenderness that only lasts a few hours. They report that less common side effects include temporary numbness, bruising and scarring.

Nerve effects from inflammation of the nerves include numbness, tingling and itching. However, Ulthera claims these dissipate within a few days up to five weeks. What some patients are experiencing is beyond “temporary” nerve effects. Many patients are complaining of permanent and severe nerve damage to the area treated, including ongoing pain, numbness and tingling. Others have reported scarring and disfigurement to their skin and underlying fat tissue.
