Onglyza Injuries and Lawsuits
Part of the prescription drug family known as incretin mimetics, Onglyza is used to treat type 2 diabetes, yet it is linked to serious and life-threatening medical conditions. In fact, research suggests that Onglyza increases the risk of pancreatic and thyroid cancers, as well as heart failure. While the U. S. Food and Drug Administration was prompted to investigate the connection between Onglyza and heart failure in 2013, many patients were already injured as a result of the drug.
If you or someone you love have suffered heart failure or were diagnosed with cancer after taking Onglyza, you need an advocate to protect your rights to compensation, fighting for the justice that you deserve. The lawyers at the Harman Law Firm understand how the business of prescription drugs work. Too often, important side effects and potentially life threatening interactions are overlooked as new drugs are pushed onto the market. This puts consumers at risk for injury and even death.

Heart Failure And Cancer Associated With Onglyza
The FDA approved Onglyza in 2009 for patients with type 2 diabetes. Designed to lower blood sugar and manage an individual’s diabetes, it was later used in combination with another medication (Kombiglyze) one year later. Yet, by 2013, studies revealed the connection between other drugs in this class with increased hospitalization due to heart failure. While the FDA confirmed the connection between Onglyza and heart failure by 2015, it remained on the market (with an updated safety label). In turn, specific links to cancer were noted.
